PADI Peak Performance Pool Buoyancy

Course Overview

The purpose of the PADI Peak Performance Pool Buoyancy Speciality Course is to polish a diver's buoyancy control beyond the Open Water Diver level. The goal of this course is to enhance the diver's buoyancy control abilities through knowledge development and skill practice.

Prerequisites

  • Certified Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver
  • Minimum age: 12 years old

Course Structure

1 hour classroom session and 2-3 hour pool session

The classroom session will consist of viewing the PADI Peak Performance Video and a discussion on the pool topics.

The pool session will consist of:

  • Equipment set-up
  • Visualisation and meditation
  • Buoyancy check in shallow end
  • Weight positioning and distribution
  • Breathing management
  • Fin pivoting and breathing underwater
  • Fine-tuning buoyancy
  • Proper kicking techniques
  • Underwater swimming - streamlining
  • Hovering
  • Practice Time

Equipment

It's highly recommended that you use your own equipment in the pool. Tanks and weights are supplied. If you don't have your own equipment, we can supply the regulator and BCD. Students must supply their own mask, snorkel, fins and boots.
