PADI Underwater Navigator

Course Overview

This course is designed to be an introduction to underwater navigation and to help the student develop the skills and knowledge necessary for use in underwater navigation.

Prerequisites

• Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver
• Minimum age: 12 years old

Course Structure

The Underwater Navigator Course consists of academic sessions on the beach and three open water training dives. The academic sessions will consist of:

• Planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of underwater navigation
• Methods of estimating distance underwater
• Natural navigation techniques
• Using underwater patterns
• Dive site relocation techniques
• Compass navigation techniques

Equipment

Complete scuba equipment with compass and underwater slate.
