PADI Adventure Diver

Course Overview

In the Open Water course you learned the basic skills of scuba diving. The PADI Adventure Diver Program builds upon those skills and allows you to build your comfort and enjoyment levels under the guidance of a PADI professional. This course is ideal for the diver who has just completed their Open Water course or wants to further their scuba education. The course is conducted over a one weekend period.

Prerequisites

  • Open Water or Junior Open Water certification (or equivalent)
  • Minimum age: 15 years old (12 years old for Junior Adventure Diver)

Course Structure

  • Watch the Adventures In Diving video
  • Complete the Scuba Review section in the Adventure Diver Manual
  • Choose 3 specialisations from the following list, read the appropriate chapters and complete the knowledge reviews before the orientation:
    • Altitude Diver
    • AWARE Fish ID
    • Boat Diver
    • Diver Vehicle Propulsion Diver
    • Drift Diver
    • Drysuit Diver
    • Enriched Air Diver
    • Equipment Specialist
    • Multilevel Diver
    • Night Diver
    • Peak Performance Buoyancy
    • Underwater Naturalist
    • Underwater Navigator
    • Underwater Photographer
    • Underwater Videographer
  • 3 specialisation dives

Equipment

Full scuba equipment including a regulator with an octopus or redundant air supply, pressure gauge, depth gauge, timing device, and compass. Other equipment required: a dive knife, underwater slate, dive tables, and Log Book. (PADI Encyclopedia is not required, but is highly recommended).

The Next Step

After successfully completing this program, you'll receive the PADI Adventure Diver certification. Now, take the next step! Complete only two more adventure dives through the Advanced Open Water Program and become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver.
